Division one of the Library Live Music Bar Handicap went off thirteen minutes late, with the 3/1 favourite Penny Serenade just getting the better of Cookie Crumbles (6/1) in a thrilling finish.
The Eddie Lynam trained three-year-old daughter of Lawman finished fifth behind C'Est Ma Souer at Fairyhouse on Wednesday and outing again quickly she recorded her maiden success, wearing a tongue strap for the first time.
Cookie Crumbles was the last one into the stalls and she broke away quickly and attempted to make all under Ian Brennan for Adrian McGuinness.
She almost succeeded in doing so, only to be caught near the line by the Niall McCullagh ridden victor, who landed the spoils by a short head. Three Bells who finished a half a length back in third, was the gamble of the race and he would almost certainly have won had he got a clear run under Joseph O’Brien.
The Patrick Downey trained gelding was as big as 20/1 this morning but opened on track at just 6s before going off at 4/1. Mount McLeod was another who was unlucky in-running. The Pat Flynn trained filly was very slowly into stride before she stayed on strongly under Billy Lee to take fourth, just a short head behind the third.
Niall McCullagh said afterwards: "I suggested to Eddie after Fairyhouse to put a tongue strap on her and to come back a little in trip.
"It’s a long time since I’ve ridden a winner for Eddie and it’s great that things worked out."
