Pearle D’or looks a nice prospect for Moyglare Stud and trainer Dermot Weld after making a winning start at odds of 13/2 in the Tifrums Irish EBF Maiden at Naas.

The chestnut gelding travelled sweetly behind the leaders and, after showing some greenness, got well on top at the finish under Chris Hayes to beat El Magnifique by two and a quarter lengths.

The 7/4 favourite Lucky San Jore was a further length back in third.

Weld said, “He’s a nice big horse, still very raw. I said to Chris take your time on him, he’ll be a bit backward but he’s been working very nicely and I think he’ll come home well for you. That’s exactly what happened.

“That’s it for the year with him and let’s hope he makes into a nice three-year-old for us. He’ll learn plenty from that.

“He handles the ground.”
