After a couple of tumbles over fences, Payngo showed the benefit of a confidence-boosting run back over hurdles at Roscommon when cruising home by twenty-one lengths in the opening mares’ maiden hudle at Kilbeggan.

She headed the favourite Gambling Mistress between the final two flights and came home alone at odds of 3/1. The 4/6 fav had no more to give under the returning Robert Power, and Bridgets Cross was a further two lengths away in third at 10/1.

Danny Mullins rode the winner for his mother Mags and said “It was a good performance. Off her handicap mark we were hoping she might have put in a performance like that somewhere but her jumping just seemed to let her down.

“We wanted to come up here to Kilbeggan and we were looking at the handicap as well as the maiden today. The maiden cut up a little bit more and she's put in a nice performance.

“Hopefully she'll step up and it'll do her confidence the world of good.

She had a solid run in Roscommon the last day. She fell a few times over fences and has just been unlucky.

“She's a bumper winner and hopefully we'll be able to build on this. It'll be interesting to see what the handicapper does with her.

“She's collected a bonus today as well which is a big help. It's an extra five grand and it's a fantastic initiative as it makes these mares pay their way.
