Padraig Roche trained his first winner when Out Of The Loop impressed when sluicing up in the Tommy Carberry Handicap Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Put in much shorter in earlier trading, Out Of The Loop went off at odds of 6/1 to follow up on a course and distance success from 84 days back.

He was a gambled-on victor on that occasion, and he turned out to be Padraig's father Christy's final scorer in the training ranks.

Here Mark Walsh enjoyed an armchair spin on the Shantou gelding as he led home another J P McManus runner, Sire Du Berlais by five and a half lengths.

Roche (32) said afterwards: "That was great. Thanks to JP and Frank for giving me the opportunity in my first year.

"We've always thought he was a nice horse, even when Dad had him. He improved from every run and he seems to be filling out. I was delighted with him there.

"It''s great to get the first one out of the way.

"I'm loving it and I'm lucky that Dad's owners left the horses with me and it's great that they gave me the opportunity.

"Dad is always there for advice. He's busy with his own mares and foals now but anytime I want advice he is always there.

"I've 15 to 20 horses at the moment and that's my fifth runner."

Frank Berry added that it was great to win the race named in honour of Tommy Carberry.

D. Robinson, rider of Fine Theatre trained by Paul Nolan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount accidentally clipped a heel and unseated him.

Oliver McKiernan, trainer of Lean Araig reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was found to have burst a blood vessel on endoscopic examination.
