John Oxx recorded a double at Gowran park this afternoon when his charge Aznavour took the Membership Open At Gowran Park Golf Club (C&G) Maiden in the hands of Niall McCullagh.

McCullagh sent his mount to the front travelling best early in the straight and the pair soon drew clear to score by an easy four and a half lengths.

Jim O'Neill assistant to the winning trainer said afterwards: "He's lazy at home but he seemed to wake up when he got to the track."

"He's a nice horse and there's a bit of speed in his pedigree. It looked to be a nice maiden and he did it well."

Oxx had also won the opening race of the afternoon when Lingapour got the better of the odds-on favourite Baglioni by a neck.
