Runners from the John Kiely stable can do little wrong at present and Wise Old Owl continued the momentum with a fluent success in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Captain Christy Novice Steeplechase at Clonmel.

Mark Walsh came there travelling well in the straight on the Beneficial six-year-old and when Bronte Bay blundered two out the outcome was decided. Wise Old Owl went on to score by nine lengths.

Kiely said: "I’ve had a fortnight to remember! This fellow is after improving a lot and he was good there as the ground was a bit dead for him in Listowel last time. He'll get a holiday for the winter now."
