Osana produced a fine-front running performance to readily justify odds of 2/5 in the novice chase at Navan.

Andrew McNamara never had a moments worry on the French-bred as he jumped impeccably throughout. Dancing Tornado tried to throw down a challenge to the eventual winner two from home but could make no inroads, going down by 12-lengths as Edward O'Grady's charge eased home.

The Bord Na Mona Novice Chase at Leopardstown on St Stephen's Day is next on the cards for the 2008 Champion Hurdle runner-up.

It looks like being a fantastic contest with Sizing Europe, Captain Cee Bee, Sports Line and River Liane all being aimed at the Grade One event.

"That should leave him right for Leopardstown," said O'Grady. "Andrew said the ground was just about raceable so hopefully it won't take too much out of him."

Sean Graham left Osana on 8/1 for the Arkle. Sizing Europe heads the market at 5/1.

It was a welcome winner for O'Grady who had a disappointing day at Fairyhouse's rescheduled meeting on Wednesday with below par efforts from the likes of Catch Me and Pesoto.

"The only explanation I can come up with is that they were very ready for Sunday and had maybe just gone a bit flat by Wednesday," said the Ballynonty handler.
