Orderofthephoenix stepped up considerably on her recent racecourse debut when running out a very impressive winner of her second start in the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Fillies Maiden at Dundalk.

Well away under Ronan Whelan, the grey held a prominent position from the outset, tracking the early leaders in third position. Moving closer onto the heels of race leader Relentless Flyer leaving the back straight, the eventual winner challenged over two furlongs out.

Whelan was anxious to switch across to the stands rail once getting to the lead but the Ado McGuinness trained filly drifted left back into the middle of the track.

However, despite showing that obvious sign of greenness, the daughter of Phoenix Of Spain quickened up smartly to stretch clear for an easy four-and-three-quarter-length win.

Orderofthephoenix is owned in partnership by Shamrock Thoroughbreds, Syndicates Racing (first horse trainer has had for them) and Dolmen Racing Club.

Ado McGuinness, “She’s a very good filly and we’d have a good line on them with the horses we have at home.

“She was a bit hard to ride early doors but we have her settled now and Adam (Caffrey) rides her out every day and has done a good job on her. We just bided our time with her until we got her settled.

“Her run in Listowel was a good run on soft ground and she’s proved today that she’s a proper filly.

“We knew she’d improve a good bit and we knew she’d like nicer ground.

“She’s for sale and is definitely a black type filly in the making. I’d say she’ll be a good filly over seven or a mile next year and could be a good one for America.”
