Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen recorded an opening and last race double at Killarney today, as Encrypted Message ran out an easy winner of the Robin Parke Memorial Handicap adding to their victory in the opener with Impound

Encrypted Message, who is a 3yo gelded son of Dansili, was expected to oblige in the 1m 3f contest as he was sent to post the 5/6 favourite (was 5/4 overnight with Paddy Powers).

After finishing second on his first two starts at Roscommon and Navan, he got off the mark on his third attempt in a seven furlong maiden at Fairyhouse.

Last time out he finished a decent second behind Sure Reef in a 1m 4f contest at the Galway Festival.

Prominent throughout, he was second at the halfway stage before hitting the front as they entered the straight.

He soon went clear from there and was eased inside the final furlong to record an bloodless four and three parts of a length victory over dual winner Jimtown in second at 4/1 under Declan McDonogh for Kevin Prendergast.

Kris Weld, son of winning trainer Dermot, said afterwards: "He ran well at Galway and he did the job nicely there as you would expect.

"We may look for something at Listowel or a better handicap later in the year.”

The winner is a half-brother to Late Day Sun who won twice for Weld and Walk Beside Me who won once also for Weld.
