We had an impressive winning juvenile on debut in the opener at Naas and there was more of the same in race three with One Smack Mac living up to his billing as 8/11 favourite in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.

He took a bit of organising but once getting the message from Colin Keane there was no disputing the superiority of the heavily invested upon son of Kodiac.

Backed in from 11/10 on track, the Ger Lyons-trained two-year-old powered on in the closing stages to put two and three parts of a length between himself and 80/1 chance Gazelle D'or Another outsider, Twinkling Toes (25/1) took the bronze medal, half a length back.

“He’s a nice horse. He did what we thought he’d do but he’s doing everything so easy at home he was greener than we imagined he’d be. If he wasn’t as good as he is he’d have got beat though greenness," said Lyons.

“There should be huge improvement in him. We’ll let him tell us.

“Six will be his minimum and I’d say he could step up. He’s a horse with a future.”

W.J. Lee, rider of Limit Off trained by Adrian Murray, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left from the half way point.
