Sharps Choice and Mind's Eye dominated the betting for the Curaheen (Pro/Am) Flat Race, but it was One First Cut the fourth choice of punters, who came out on top under Finian Maguire for Liz Doyle.
Making her racecourse debut, the daughter of Beneficial was sent off a 10/1 chance. Sharps Choice was the 11/10 favourite, while Mind's Eye was returned at 6/4.
As they approached the straight it looked as if the market principals would fight out the finish, however One First Cut came through to pass them both, and she stretched clear inside the final furlong, going on to score comfortably by six and a half lengths.
Mind's Eye finished second under David Roche for Henry De Bromhead, while Sharps Choice was another three and three parts of a length back in third under Patrick Mullins for his father Willie. M Seven Seven Gus was backed from 20's to 8's on-course, and he finished fourth for Stuart Crawford and JJ Slevin.
Liz Doyle said afterwards: "She has a beautiful pedigree and is a beautiful filly. She always went well at home and we just had to get her fit; usually with the likes of her, when they reach the track the pedigree kicks in.
"She got a beautiful ride and will go for a mares' winners bumper next."
