It is said that little fish are sweet and trainer John Kiely was more than happy to claim the E8,000 Tramore Racecourse 1912-2012 Centenary Handicap at Tramore today with his On The Way Out who won well under Irish Grand National winning jockey Andrew Thornton.

Thornton moved the son of Saddler's Hall to the front on the downhill run into the dip and from there stayed on well for a comfortable win over Moveable Asset

Kiely later stated “we were considering running him in the Cesarewitch but he wasn't getting into it so we decided to come here instead; half a loaf is better than no bread!

“He ran well at Listowel, knew he was in good form and he'll probably go back chasing now.”

Unusually for a Flat race, although not at this venue, the race featured three jump jockeys taking on the sole exclusively Flat rider (Ben Curtis).
