Jedd O’Keeffe is hoping Only Spoofing can continue a lucrative 2018 with a strong performance in the Troytown Bar Handicap at Navan today.

The four-year-old chalked up a hat-trick of victories in the early part of the summer and has run respectably in defeat since.

O’Keeffe was attracted by the prize-money on offer for this €25,000 five-furlong contest and sees it as a good opportunity for the son of Approve.

“The ground should be great. Hopefully they shouldn’t get too much more rain. We’d hope he’d run very well,” said the North Yorkshire handler.

“He ran a nice race at Carlisle last time when the ground just went a bit too slow for him. He’s having a good year.

“His owner is Ireland based and it gives him an opportunity to see him run over there. We thought it was nice money and the stiff tack will suit. It was a temptation.

“Sean (Davis) has ridden him a couple of times before and ridden him really well. He was fifth in a big handicap on him at the Curragh earlier in the year.

“He knows the horse well and he rides really nicely.”

O’Keeffe takes on the might of the Aidan O’Brien stable, represented by the progressive Lost Treasure who made a late but successful start to the campaign with two victories last month, and Dali winner of a Listed contest at Naas in June.

Darren Bunyan ’s Mister Trader Denis Hogan’s Amanaat and the Andy Slattery-trained Sors make up a field of six.
