"He's a lovely horse. Donagh said he can't wait to go a mile on him," said Shane Donohoe after his well-backed favourite Chewy Round Town landed split one of the Big Bad Bob Maiden to supply Donagh O'Connor with a Dundalk double.
O'Connor had been successful in the previous race on Mr Right for his boss, Johnny Levins. Here he made all on Chewy Round Town, he asked for more two furlongs out, and the Roderic O'Connor colt kept on well inside the final furlong to defeat Charlies Missile by a length and three parts.
"I nearly wasn't going to run as he missed five days with a stone bruise and there was nothing I could do about it," added Donohoe.
"Donagh said he's turned into a complete professional. He said he was never in any doubt and he was going away at the end.
"He has an unbelievable attitude to racing. Donagh said he had every excuse to get beaten tonight but when they came at him and he gave him a slap he went away again."
The Stewards fined P.D. Deegan, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Mystery Gal in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.
The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
Anastasia O'Brien, rider of Birthplace trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount sweated up at the start and may benefit from a step up in trip.
