County Kerry trainer Ian O’Connor, recently on the mark at Galway with Jazz Lady, struck again in the finale at Cork, the Buy Online And Save On Admission Tickets Handicap. Famous Name filly You’llfindandsee (25s into 20s) did the needful for him this time.
A native of the Kingdom as well, Gearoid Brouder, did the steering on the first-time blinkered You’llfindandsee.
The four-year-old led two and a half furlongs out off a fast pace and quickly went for her race. Top-weight Liars Corner closed her down close home but there was still half a length between them at the line.
Well-backed favourite Harvey Specter (7/2) ran well from off the pace. Shane Foley had to switch to the outer to get a run in the straight. He finished off strong for fourth.
"She was working well enough at home and had a good run at Galway last October when only beaten a length. I put a set of blinkers on her at home three days ago and I thought it sharpened her up an awful lot,” said O’Connor.
"Conditions were ideal and she would handle it a little softer as well and she is a very tough filly, which is half the battle. Gearoid gave her a great ride and he comes in and helps me out an awful lot and it is nice to repay him with a winner.
"I have six horses in training and hopefully there will be another day in her before the end of the season."
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Alice Milligan trained by W. McCreery, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
T.P. Madden, rider of Bog War trained by Liam P Cusack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
W.J. Lee, rider of Alice Milligan trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran off the first bend and never travelled thereafter.
The Stewards interviewed G.P. Brouder, rider of You'llfindandsee concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taking his previous record in this regard into account the Stewards suspended G.P. Brouder for 2 racedays.
