Sidereus Nuncius swooped inside the final furlong to give Joseph O'Brien a quick double at the Curragh.

The Gaileo colt made a winning debut in the colours of his mother Anne-Marie. September Lily looked set for victory when hitting the front travelling well over two furlongs out but couldn't hold the late charge of the winner.

O'Brien was pushing along on his mount two furlongs out but he stayed on to challenge at the furlong marker.

The colt hit the front in the final 150 yards and was pulling away close home for a cosy two-length success.

"He's a lovely horse though a bit backward," said the winning rider afterwards.

"He's tough and stays well. He's had a couple of niggly problems."

The winner is a half-brother to Listed winner Queen Titi, who is also the dam of Dewhurst winner Beethoven.

The win moved O'Brien seven clear of Pat Smullen in the jockeys title race, which now stands at 85-78.

Seamus Heffernan was given a three-day ban for hitting Attorney Street who trailed in last, when the horse was out of contention.

The rider was upset with the decision and said:" My job is to educate him and teach him a bit and that's what I thought I was doing."

Stipendiary Steward Paul Murtagh countered:- "It's the fourth time since July he's been done for a similar offence.

"He hit the horse three times when he was second last over a furlong out."
