Nusret could hardly have been more impressive when making a stylish winning debut over flights in the John Lynch Carpets 3-Y-0 Hurdle at Punchestown.

Owned By Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, the son of Golden Horn had shown promise on his juvenile debut on the flat before taking another five runs to shed his maiden tag.

However, following a win at the Curragh in July, he then showed up well in two competitive end of season handicaps. Given his breeding, he was always a horse that needed time and a test of stamina to show his true worth.

Always travelling well on this initial outing over hurdles, he arrived with a strong challenge jumping the last, before quickening clear under jockey Daryl Jacob.

The manner in which he pulled 6 lengths clear of his rivals marked him down as one of the leading juvenile hurdlers in the country.

Daryl Jacob said:- “I sat on him in Joseph's as a two-year-old and I said when I got to the top that he would make a fine jumper. Little did I know he was going to end up going jumping.

“He's always shown a nice attitude to schooling, I've schooled him a couple of times at Joseph's.

“When he won at the Curragh I really liked him and thought it was a really good performance. I thought he could be quite nice over hurdles.

“I'm sure they'll have a nice race in mind for him now, there are a couple of good races over here at Christmas time.

“It was a nice performance, there were some nice horses in that race today. He's done it very nicely, travelled around great and jumped great.

“Please God that is phase one of hopefully what can be a really nice horse over hurdles.”
