Pat Flynn's Not Just Any Girl sprang a 50/1 shock in Tipperary when keeping on best in the mile and one handicap.
The Dylan Thomas mare raced in rear of mid-division and was niggled along by Killian Leonard under three furlongs out.
She began to inch closer entering the home straight and got a lovely run through to get on the heels of the leaders.
The five-year-old loomed large a furlong out and burst through to lead in the final 100 yards. She didn't relent as she posted a victory by half a length from 12/1 shot Liberality My Painter (9/1) and My Manekineko (16/1) took third and fourth respectively in a bunch finish.
Pat Flynn said: “She's been disappointing all along. I thought the trip might suit.
“We said we'd get her relaxed, take it handy, get balanced and let her come home. With her draw (in two) and claiming 7lb off I thought she had a little chance.
“I told him to go to the outer as you can get caught on the inside around here.
“It's a welcome winner.”
The Stewards requested a report from Patrick J.Flynn, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Not Just Any Girl, winner, as compared with its recent form.
The trainer reported that this mare was off the track since October 2014 until she ran in Bellewstown on July 1st over almost one mile on heavy ground, where he felt they made too much use of her and she faded in the home straight. He then decided to step her up in trip to 1m4f in Gowran Park on July 23rd, but she didn't appear to stay the trip. He decided to give her one last chance today, over 9f on quicker ground, and it appeared to bring about any apparent improvement in form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
