Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning upset the odds for the second time in the space of a week in a juvenile Group race at the Curragh as New Treasure took the Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes at odds of 66/1.
The Coolcullen trainer and his stable jockey landed the Futurity Stakes here last Saturday with 28/1 chance Mac Swiney and they appear to have another nice prospect on their hands.
The son of New Approach showed significant improvement from his debut in a maiden here earlier this month, challenging over a furlong out and getting the better of a good battle with 13/8 favourite Teresa Mendoza close home to score by half a length.
Coulthard was a further length and a quarter back in third in this six-furlong Group 3 event.
Bolger’s daughter Una Manning said, “The dam won this race first time out and Jim is delighted with him.
“Things just didn’t work out for him the last day when he was a bit keen first time out.
“We were confident that he would run a good race today.
“I’m not sure what the plans are but I’m sure he’s well entered up.”
The winner holds an entry in the Group 2 KPMG Champions Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown in just over a fortnight.
