Out in front was the place to be to avoid the trouble in the three mile maiden hunters chase at Cork. Nevskij the 3/1 favourite and Ciaran Fennessy made all and a good jump at the last secured victory over Final Gift (7/1).

Of the 17 that went to post only nine completed the course. Among the non finishers was Twin Joy who was pulled up and Mickey Blue Eyes who fell at the first.

Michael Winters trains the winner and he said: “He always showed promise. In fairness to Paul O’Flynn he had the job as he trained him in his poit-to-points.

“Paul played football for Cork. After he ran badly in Agahbullogue he scoped wrong and the lads did brilliantly with him. Paul will have his own licence in a fortnight’s time.” Wiseoverbury took third at 10/1 with Mikey Fogarty in the saddle.
