Mudamer wore down Glengarra in the final strides to win the juvenile colts and geldings maiden in Fairyhouse.
Kevin Prendergast 's charge showed improvement on his opening effort when ninth at the Curragh in a race in which Glengarra finished fourth in.
The Dark Angel colt made headway on the outer a furlong and a half down and was ridden to pursue Glengarra in the final 150 yards.
He came home best to collar Glengarra by a neck at 16/1. The runner-up went off at 4/1 and was a length and three parts clear of easy-to-back Schiele (11/4) in this six-furlong race.
Jockey Gary Halpin said: “He came forward from his run at the Curragh. We quietly fancied him at the Curragh and that was probably a very strong maiden. The winner (Beauty Inspire) is quite good.
“I was delighted to see him step forward even over an inadequate trip. This race just came to hand and suited him.
“He'll progress when he goes up in trip and he's a nice horse for the future.”
