Jack Kearney completed a quickfire double, as he claimed the second divide of the irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap on Moyassr
Successfully guiding top-weight Comfort Line to victory in the first split, the Co Meath apprentice repeated the feat aboard the John and Thomas Kiely-trained victor.
Second at the venue over seven-furlongs on Wednesday, the Claire Gleeson-owned three-year-old was well-fancied to go a place better this evening.
Returned the 9/4 favourite, the 65-rated Mehmas gelding was settled in mid-division by Kearney, making progress from early in the straight.
Ridden in second over a furlong from home, he got to the front inside the final 150 yards and stretched clear close home.
Tom McCourt 's Shining Aitch was a length and three quarters back in second, while Glencullen (9/2 from 8s early) was another half a length away in third.
"He ran a lovely race here on Wednesday and pulled out of the race very well so we were happy to come again this evening," John Gleeson, son of the winning owner and amateur rider, commented.
"He's a fun horse and I think he could win plenty of races up here throughout the winter, he seems to handle the surface anyway.
"He's a good sweet horse and has a good attitude for the game which is a help."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Raceday Stewards interviewed C.D. Maxwell, rider of Glencullen, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of the whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found C.D. Maxwell in breach of R.10.3 (g) (frequency) and having considered his clean record in this regard, they suspended him for three racedays.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Deed Pole (GB), trained by Cian Hughes, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis.
