The 50-85 handicap over a mile was won by Morse (10/1) who provided Curragh trainer Charles Weld with his first winner.
In a field of 14, the handicap debutant had only three behind him turning for home. He started to run on once straightening up but rider Niall McCullagh was looking for racing room approaching the final furlong.
A nice gap opened between Mogwli and Perfect Poise in the nick of time and the winner seized his chance, running on well to collar the latter close home for a half length victory.
“That’s my first winner and I took out the licence about two years ago," said Weld.
“I have about ten in at the moment mostly our own. I set up at the parents farm.
“He’s the third generation of a family we’ve had at home. He got injured and missed all of last year.
“He’d a couple of good runs on the all-weather this year. He probably didn’t let himself down the last day and was well-handicapped as a result. Fingers crossed it’s onwards and upwards.”
