It wasn't always comfortable to watch if you were on at 10/11 but Morning Assembly achieved what was expected by landing the opening I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle at Naas under Davy Russell.
Pat Fahy 's smart young prospect eventually crossed the line three parts of a length to the good from Mad Brian after several had held chances over the last two flights.
Fahy handles the victorious Shantou gelding for Clipper Logistics Group Ltd and the County Carlow-based trainer said: "He didn't enjoy the race as much as he did at Leopardstown last time (2nd there at Christmas to Sizing Gold).
"There was a better type of ground and he seemed to enjoy it better that day.
"He caught a few hurdles there and landed awkwardly. To battle the way he did though – I'm very happy with him. It's a weight off my mind.
"I'll have a chat with Davy (Russell) and the owners to see where we'll go next.
"He'll get an entry in the three mile race at Cheltenham." (GC & EM)
