Monbeg Park stayed on strongly to take the Pegus Horse Feed Point-To-Point Flat Race at Cork.
The Sean Doyle trained five-year-old travelled well into the straight but showed signs of inexperience before finally putting the race to bed.
A winning point to point horse, who finished second on his previous start under rules, he looked as though he still had plenty to give as the penny only dropped close home.
Odds on favourite Largy Hill travelled well but didn't find as much as expected once let down.
Sean Doyle said; "it is only by accident we have him as he did a suspensory joint winning his point to point. You could see him doing it as he jumped the last fence where he just wrenched. Other than that he would have gone to the sales and made a lot of money.
"He wasn't fully right in Gowran but came out of it well and looks a different horse now.
"We will keep him for racing ourselves now and if he stays in one piece, you could see him winning something big. We'll turn him out now and go hurdling next year."
