Model county man Bowe makes breakthrough

Sat 17th Apr 2010, 18:29

Top point-to-point trainer, Colin Bowe, made the breakthrough on the track from only a handful of runners when the well-backed Model County Lass under Barry 'Bon' O'Neill held off the late finish of Mrs Clouseau by a length in the Saltan Properties (Mares) Flat Race.

Local trainer/rider Declan Queally looked a winner when striking on up the hill on Cnoc Seoda but she couldn't sustain her effort and had to give best to Model County Lass and Mrs Clouseau at the finish.

Kiltealy, Enniscorthy-based Bowe said: "She won three point-to-points this year. She is a full-sister to Lively Lass, who won lately. She likes the good ground, she won all her point-to-points on it. There are twelve in the syndicate (White Gold Syndicate) all from around Enniscorthy - Bree, Adamstown and Ferns."
