Mick The Boyo justified some good support when opening his account in the Follow Us On Facebook Handicap Hurdle at Cork.

The eight-year-old gelding was backed from 12/1 into 8/1 this morning, and that proved a shrewd move as he took this two miles event under Mikey Fogarty.

The James Grace-trained son of Flemensfirth took over from the front-running Killahara Castle before three out, and the 8/1 shot kept on well to score by four lengths. Kiera Royale took the runner-up spot, with Balynaclash Warior a further eight and a half lengths adrift in third.

Grace said, “He ran well at Galway, and we were hoping that today might be the day.

“He’s entered at Thurles on Thursday but that will probably be a bit quick. We’ll see how he is and how the handicapper reacts.”
