Meade outlines plans for Champion Hurdle trio
Noel Meade is finalising plans for his three Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle runners, with at least two of them likely to head to the Punchestown Festival.
Muirhead fared best of the trainer's trio at Cheltenham staying on to finish fifth, with Jered seventh and Harchibald 17th of the 23 runners.
Muirhead and Harchibald are almost certain to line up in the Rabobank Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on May 1.
Jered could step up to two and a half miles for the first time in the John Smith's Aintree Hurdle at Liverpool.
'Muirhead won't run again until Punchestown, while we haven't made our minds up about Jered yet. He might just go to Liverpool but if not, he could go to Punchestown,' said Meade.
'Harchibald will definitely go to Punchestown. We will see how we go, but he might have a run on the Flat between now and then.'
'Jered was never competitve in the Champion Hurdle and it was a very disappointing run, really, as he jumped very moderately early on. He has never run in a race as competitive as that before as the novice races he was running in last season were all small fields.'
'David (Casey) said he got bumped about a bit early on at Cheltenham, and he didn't really jump for the first mile. He had more or less given up on him but then he started to stay on and he was miles behind at the second-last, before absolutely flying home. His pedigree would suggest he would stay the two and a half miles, and maybe it will help him.'
