Gary Halpin had a snug success on Maude Adams for Kevin Prendergast in the Curragh’s mile handicap.

Halpin, who claims 10 pounds, was on board the third win of his career and will have his claim cut to seven pounds.

Once Halpin in mid division switched Maude Adams outside two furlongs from the finish the four-year-old daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar put the race to bed. Halpin didn’t have to get serious as she won comfortably by three quarters of a length at 5/1.

Halpin’s boss, Kevin Prendergast, trains Maude Adams. He said: “It’s nice to get off the mark [for the season]. We’ll keep it low-key with her. She’s genuine and honest.

“That’s her fourth win and she’s been lucky. She’s a good kids ride. He rode her well. He had nowhere to go and did the right thing going wide.” Winning Impact (11/2) came in second while Miller Beach at 16/1 took third. The 7/2 favourite, Greatest finished seventh.
