The market proved an accurate guide to the four-runner Book Online @ DundalkStadium.com Race as the well-supported Tarsus readily accounted for Harry’s Bar.
Harry’s Bar was as short as 4/11 overnight in what amounted to a match but the course specialist took a massive walk in the market as all the money came for Tarsus.
Quotes of 7/4 about the Andy Slattery-trained gelding soon disappeared, and he went off evens with Harry’s Bar just shading favouritism at 10/11.
Tarsus struck the front early in the straight and kept on strongly inside the final furlong under Declan McDonogh to beat his market rival by two lengths. Army Of India was a further four and a quarter lengths back in third.
Slattery said, "He is a horse that is improving all the time. You could say he was unlucky here the last night, things went wrong and he got hampered up the straight a bit.
"I didn't think we would beat Harry's Bar but there was good prize money. We thought we would have a crack.
"There's another conditions race here in a month's time and he might run in that. We'll take it from there as it comes."
The Killenaule trainer gave an update on his son and namesake adding: "He is delighted with it over there (in Dubai), I think he has six or seven rides again this weekend.
"He had a third there in a race in Meydan, I was just looking at it. He'll be back in four weeks."
