Six years on from Finsceal Beo's 1,000 Guineas win for Mick Ryan, Jim Bolger (2nd this year with Rehn's Nest and Kevin Manning, the trio struck again on a big day at the Curragh when Maggie Dalton landed the concluding Newstalk 106-108 Maiden.
The 14/1 chance (clipped in from 16s) tracked the leaders and the daughter of Mr Greeley (same sire as Finsceal Beo) got to the front a furlong out. She then held on by a head from Orator
Bolger divulged: "She's a very big filly and she's a good sort.
"I would say she'll handle softer ground and she was a bit weak last year."
Maggie Dalton's only previous run came when she was fourth over the course and distance last July.
Dual Aintree winner and victorious in the Swinton Hurdle since, Battle Group features close up in Maggie Dalton's pedigree. (GC & EM)
