Vale Do Sol was a comprehensive winner of Navan's mile and a quarter handicap and in the process gave trainer Ger Lyons, jockey Colin Keane and owner Sean Jones a double on the card.

The 5/1 shot soon ran fourth behind pace-setting Secrets Safe Master Rule in second and Song Of Love

He made good headway to join Secrets Safe at the three marker and quickly assumed the lead. Colin Keane asked him to go on and win his race at the two marker and the gelding shot clear of his rivals.

The pair maintained the gallop up Navan's stiff finish and won by three and three quarter lengths. Sheeba at 9/2 came through for second. He was three lengths in front of third-placed Selskar Abbey the 7/2 favourite.

Ger Lyons said: "He ran a blinder in a good race at the Curragh and was suited by coming back to his own grade as he carries weight no problem.

"I'd like to thank Vincent Eivers (head groundsman) as that track is in amazing condition with no rain."

Lyons, Keane and Jones took the preceding race with 11/4 shot Intisari
