Trainer Pat Martin combined with jockey Andrew Thornton to win the Christmas Greetings Handicap Hurdle at Navan today, with Lucky Spring

The son of Key Of Luck was held up in rear before making good headway from three out, to eventually get his head in front on the run-in, scoring a length and a quarter win over Lisrenny Lady

Afterwards Martin stated "Lucky Spring cracked a bone in a joint and has taken a long time to get back right - he was a fairly decent horse at one stage. The ground was too deep for him at Clonmel the last day and he didn't get home and he is better with a gap between races."

He added "Andrew (Thornton) rides very well and deserves more opportunities and, obviously, I'm delighted the meeting went ahead and the lads say it rides well."
