The first division of the Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle was won by the 9/4 favourite Lucid Dreams under Liam Quinlan.
The eight-year-old only made his debut in March when second in a Fakenham maiden hurdle and was third in a bumper at the first meeting of the Ballinrobe season last month.
He tracked Laelaps who set a strong pace before heading that rival after the second-last and went away to beat the well-backed Make The Plan (7/2 from 8s earlier in the day) by eight and a half lengths.
Winning trainer John Ryan said: "This is probably the best horse I ever put a bridle on and I don't say that lightly, I've had a lot of good horses down the years, but this horse is special.
"He's big, he's strong, clear-winded and sound. He's by Arcadio and loves a bit of nice ground. The dam is a sister to Monkerhostin.
"He's huge, 17 hands, and that's why he hasn't run until lately. He'll stay 2m4f and will probably want three miles in time.
"He'll be a lovely novice for the summer."
