Owner Kate Deegan, wife of trainer Paul Deegan, saw her racing colours carried to success for the first time at Gowran tonight, when her Long Wait arrived late to win the Early Bird Green Fees at Gowran Park Handicap.

Afterwards Paul Deegan stated "that is my wife Kate's first winner and hopefully Long Wait can now win again."

He added "Long Wait had a few problems as a two year old but has come good now. The form of his latest start, when third at Dundalk has worked out well, and although he was still a bit green, the blinkers did the trick today. "
