There was a first win away from home-ground for World Of Fortunes with the Cheesestrings Irish EBF (Mares) Hurdle at Listowel going the way of the chestnut in an impressive manner.
Craanford, Gorey-based Liam Kenny has care of World Of Fortunes for owner Michael F Broderick and her two previous successes had been gained at the trainer's local track in Wexford.
Her form stands up to scrutiny, including when she ran behind Baby Kate at Cheltenham last November. Baby Kate's Willie Mullins stable companion Paggane was the one the market favoured this time though, as she went off the 11/10 favourite, ahead of the Jordan Gainford-ridden World Of Fortunes at 5/2.
Paggane tried to get it done from the front but the victorious Soldier Of Fortune mare was never far away and she was too strong from the penultimate flight, eventually gaining the day by four lengths and a length and three parts. Disco Dancer was the one to fill the third spot.
Aforementioned part-owner Michael Broderick said afterwards: "She has come on a lot from her win in Wexford and obviously that was over three miles. She jumped slowly at the start of that race and we felt a faster pace over a shorter distance would suit her.
"She is good, we like her and while she had a blip, she is back on track now.
"I'm living in Ballymore Eustace but Listowel is originally home for me, so this is super."
