Liffeydale Dreamer (14/1) swooped late to land the three-year-old handicap at Ballinrobe for trainer Adrian Keatley.

You couldn't have called her an obvious winner as she came widest of seven horses fanned across the track entering the home straight.

However, she picked up strongly for Billy Lee in the final furlong and finished with a flourish to mow down Passing Trade (20/1) in the final strides.

The judge gave the winning margin as a head.

A Few Bob Short the 9/4 favourite, came home a length and three parts back in third.

Adrian Keatley said: "She did well to win and nothing went her way and she struggled to handle the first couple of bends. She was seven wide turning in so it was good.

"I gave Billy (Lee) a bit of stick last week for winning too far at Ascot (on Settle For Bay) so he said to me there 'I hope I didn't win too far!'

"I'm delighted for her owners, breeder Sean Murphy and Mick Gill too and hopefully she'll win another few for him and she'll be a nice breeding prospect. She might even improve because she is a fine big filly."

Liffeydale Dreamer left a row of three 'duck eggs' behind with this success in her first handicap.
