Lecale's Destiny brought up plenty of bets when getting off the mark at the third time of asking in the seven-furlong maiden at Dundalk.
The 5/4 favourite was ridden by Danny Gilligan to challenge at the two pole and he soon grabbed the lead. The three-year-old Mehmas gelding was pressed throughout the final furlong but stuck to his task in coming home by half a length. Pinehurst tried to get on terms with the leader but gave best in second at 7/1 from double those odds. Carnival Girl kept on for third at 33/1, a further neck down.
Trainer Natalia Lupini said: "Danny gave him a great ride and he stayed on nicely. Probably the step up to a mile won't do him any harm. He is tough and genuine.
"We hope to compete in premier handicaps with him, he seems to be shaping up that way.
"He started well in Gowran Park when he was second first time out and in the Curragh he just didn't seem to handle the soft ground. He seems to like nice ground.
"He seems to have handled the surface okay so we'll speak to the owner and see what the plan is.
"The horses are running well so hopefully it will continue for another while."
