Unfortunately Bionic Tonic was pulled up injured in the final quarter mile of the BetVictor Bet 5 Get 40 Offer Handicap (division one) at Dundalk as Drombeg Duke (10/1) landed the spoils.
Starting off on the polytrack Drombeg Duke provided Mikey Sheehy with a third success in the saddle and his claim is now down to seven pounds.
Many had chances until late in the day in this seven furlong heat but Drombeg Duke found the most when it mattered to upstage Mulzamm and Duhallow Noelie by a length and a half and a head.
“I'm well pleased with that because Susan (Keane, daughter) is in hospital — she broke her back,” said winning trainer Austin Leahy.
Married to Patrick Keane of Ballinroe Transport, Susan had a gallops accident last month and has a long road to recovery ahead of her.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Chagall trained by Edward Lynam, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
P.A. Harnett, rider of Comhghairdeas trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly.
