Last Instalment opens up a new chapter
Gigginstown House Stud secured a quick-fire double as Last Instalment put in an excellent display of jumping to land the beginners’ chase at Galway.
The owners had taken the previous handicap chase with Tharawaat Last Instalment looks a useful recruit to the chasing ranks and afterwards trainer Philip Fenton spoke highly of his charge who was having his first run over the bigger obstacles.
He said: “He’s as natural as you get and has been from day one. He’s just made to jump fences. He has great respect for them and even when he gets in tight he can organise himself.
“He will hopefully develop into something decent. The Florida Pearl at Punchestown might be next as it is over a trip. He’s a lovely horse.”
The winner was returned at 3/1 under Brian O’Connell. He tracked the leader Alpha Ridge and Ruby Walsh (2/1) before knuckling down to assert in the final furlong to win by three-and-three-parts-of-a-length.
Gigginstown House Stud also owned the third in the race – Fists Of Fury This Charles Byrnes-trained 6/4 favourite was 23 lengths behind the runner-up.
