The Ellmarie Holden trained Lachares gained a third hurdles win of the year when landing the Midlands National Day July 21st Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan today, under jockey Davy Russell.

The son of Manduro had been placed in three of his last four runs, having won twice previously last March, and today raced prominently throughout before scoring a length and three parts win over Petuna

Holden later commented “the change in the going obviously helped as he likes a nice cut. He was a bit disappointing the last day so we freshened him up a bit. He jumped well."
