Kylecrue got off the mark over hurdles at Clonmel last Thursday, and the John Ryan trained gelding followed up this afternoon by taking the Seasons Greetings Beginners Chase.

The application of blinkers worked the oracle on the six-year-old son of Gold Well last week, and they remained in place again today as the bay gelding made it two-in-a-row.

Sent off the 4/1 favourite under Ryan Treacy, he ridden chased the leaders for much of the contest before improving to lead approaching the third last.

He was ridden and strongly pressed before the second last, but he kept on well under pressure on the run-in, holding off the challenge of Silver Chief (5/1), for Mick Winters and Andrew McNamara, by a length and a half, while Hidden Horizons finished three lengths back in third under Mikey Fogarty for Stuart Crawford at 8/1.

Ryan Treacy said afterwards: "That's my thirteenth winner on Friday the 13th, and I turned twenty last week."

John Ryan added: "That trip was very sharp for him today. He needs three miles or three miles plus.

"We will mix it with him now, he is not a huge horse. We will try and find something at Limerick over Christmas for him.

"I’m looking forward to running him over a trip. He has got great scope, he is a lovely horse and this looked a good opportunity for him today.

"He is a nice horse to have and he is a sound good jumper."
