Kyle grinds out victory
Kyle's Turn found reserves in the dying strides to snatch victory in the beginners chase at Navan.
Alain Cawley, who replaced the injured Davy Condon, got a good tune from the gelding on the run-in as he stuck his head in front close home. Pontiac made a bold bid from the front and had his rivals hard at work two from home.
His advantage was eroded on the run to the line, however, with Kyle's Turn getting up to score by three-parts of a length. Mr Nosie just pipped the front-runner for second.
Newtownabbey trainer Eyssen Ross, whose yard is just eight miles from Belfast, was saddling her first winner since last May.
She has 14 in her care and will be cheering on Imperial Commander in next Friday's Gold Cup having trained the star chaser to win his point-to-point.
"We expected him to come on from his last run but weren't sure about the ground today as it's a bit tacky," said Ross.
"Alain gave him a great ride considering he hadn't rode him before."
There was a sting in the tail for Cawley, who picked up a two-day ban for excessive force on the winner.
Davy Condon was stood down for the day after suffering a cut on his neck, which needed stitches, when Imaalhall was brought down in the preceding race.
