Kodiac Prince has struck a rich vein of form for Tom Clearys and followed up on his recent Gowran Park success with victory in the nine-furlong handicap at the Curragh.
Jockey Rory Cleary rode him to pass Giuseppe Cassioli approaching the final furlong and the six-year-old gelding was full of zest as he put his rivals to the sword in the final 100 yards.
The 11/2 joint favourite bounded away by two and a-quarter lengths from fellow 11/2 joint favourite Overheer
Each-way backers drew a dividend from Jabbar (22/1) and Giuseppe Cassioli (33/1) in third and fourth respectively.
This was the furthest trip that Kodiac Prince has scored over.
Trainer Tom Cleary said: “He's in good form, he seems to have improved and is at his best this year.
“In fairness to the handicapper, he did give me a chance after winning the last day. I went up in grade, but I think the key to him was the drop of rain we got all day here, he got his toe in.
“It's good to get a winner on the big stage. My owners Helena and Matty O'Toole have been very patient since the day they bought him. If I could have a couple of owners like them that's all anybody would want.”
