Alan Magee
Kirby relights the flame
Kirbybroguelantern turned back the clock when recording his eighth career victory in the paddypower.com Mobile Betting Handicap Hurdle.
The ten-year-old gelding, without a success since scoring on the all-weather at Dundalk nearly three years ago and one of the celebrated group of three-time bumper winners, led inside the final mile and kept on well in the straight under Robert Jones to beat Dbanks by two and a half lengths.
Winning trainer Tom Hogan said, “Robert's 5lb claim was certainly a help today. It took him a long time to scrape down to a mark where he could win.”
