Colin Keane timed things well as Chaparral Dream wore down front-runner Yarraman inside the final furlong in the second division of the mile-and-a-half handicap at Dundalk.
Yarraman was given a positive ride and kicked clear turning for home, under Conor Hoban.
He started to come back going to the furlong pole, however, and 2/1 favourite Chaparral Dream swept past inside the final furlong to post a four-and-a-quarter length victory.
Ado McGuinness' charge had been knocking on the door for a while and was gaining a deserved first success.
The winning trainer said:- “It was about time. He’s been favourite a good few times so I think he owes the punters one!
“We gave him a break and ran him in Wolverhampton last week where he stayed on well over a shorter trip.
“The plan was to sit mid-division tonight but he dropped him out as they went so fast.
“He is a nice horse and will go hurdling. Dan (Daly, owner) has been lucky and hopefully he’ll progress from here.”
