The cheers of favourite backers could be heard as Katie T eased her way to a win in the ladies bumper at Roscommon.
Jane Mangan was up on the Kevin Prendergast trained four-year-old daughter of Beneficial who went off at 7/4.
Mangan was content to race just off the pace in fourth before taking closer order in second with six furlongs to go in the two mile race.
Inside the two furlong pole Katie T hit the front and drew clear for a four length decision. This was an improvement on her debut run when second at Wexford in May.
“She took a while to relax, but I was always confident I would catch the one in front. She picked up well and ideled in the final furlong,” Jane Mangan said.
And in words that must be music to renowned flat trainer Kevin Prendergast’s ears, Mangan added: “I think she might have the speed for a flat race.” Well Tuned who was prominent throughout, kept on for second at 16/1 while Fourni at 14s came in third.
