The front running Like the Da made a bad mistake two out and unseated his rider Mick Darcy, who then appeared to pull his mount down on top of himself in what looked an nasty incident.

The runner-up Takeurcapoff led from the second last but when Andrew McNamara pushed the button on the winner he asserted on the run-in to score by two and a half lengths.

Winning trainer Edward O‘Grady said afterwards "He will probably get an entry for the Grimes Hurdle at Tipperary in two weeks time."
