Ricky Langford (18/1) credited jockey Conor Owens with a first winner over fences today, landing Downpatrick's concluding Download The New Tote App Handicap Chase for trainer Philip Rothwell.

Ricky Langford raced prominently throughout, led from four out and eventually held Salies Diamond by 5.5 lengths.

The ten-year-old gelding was registering his fifth consecutive annual win - and a seventh in total, and afterwards Owens reported “when the rain came, I was slightly worried about my chances. He was an out-and-out two miler in his younger days, it was 2m2f today so maybe as a 10-year-old he wants that little bit extra."

He added “I got here very early so had lots of time to walk the track and I found a lovely patch of ground, albeit out very wide. I pulled him onto it going out on the last lap and he completely lit up, started travelling and doing everything easily.

It was a big help and in this game, with it being so competitive in Ireland, these little things make a difference.”
