Jit Langy made a winning start to life in Ireland off the front in Tipperary.

He ran twice in his native France and finished second over hurdles at Auteuil when last seen in September.

Paul Townend kept it simple on the son of Karaktar as they made all and asserted before the last. That wasn't the four-year-old gelding's best jump, but he was in control as he strode home along the run-in to score by four lengths at 2/5. Samui (10/3) tried to make a race of it, but had no answers once the leader increased the lead at the final obstacle. Drak Note was nine lengths further adrift in third at 20/1 and he was 25 lengths clear of the fourth home.

Mullins said: “He’s a nice type and a nice novice for this season. We’ll see how he comes out of that before deciding whether we stay going or put him away for the winter.

“He’s a natural jumper and is one to look forward to.”
